Who was Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc) referred to herself as Jehanne la Pucelle, or Joan the Maid. She is also known as the "Maid of Orleans". Purcelle: signifies that she was a virgin - a significant distinction at the time that signified society held virginity in high regard before marriage.

Jeanne was an illiterate girl who led a French Army to victory placed a king on the throne of France and saved the kingdom of France from English Domination. A patron saint of France, Joan of Arc was honoured as a defender of the French nation for her role in the siege of Orléans and her insistence on the coronation of Charles VII of France during the Hundred Years' War. She is the only historical figure condemned and Canonised by the Catholic Church. Jeanne was Canonised as a saint by Pope Benedict XV on May 16,1920. The Hundred Years' War (1337-1453) was a conflict between France and England over the legitimate succession to the French throne.

Why is she famous and St. Joan of Arc's Belief

St. Joan of Arc was a Catholic with extreme personal piety. At the young age of 13, Joan began to hear voices and receive revelations. Due to her visitations, direct communication with the Saints, she believed that God had chosen her for a specific purpose of overwhelming importance. Guided by the voices of St. Michael, St Catherine of Alexandria and St. Margaret of Antioch, Jeanne felt her mission was to aid the Dauphin Charles (later Charles VII) to expel the English and their Burgundian allies from the Valois kingdom of France and to install him as the rightful king of France.  As part of her divine mission, Joan took a vow of chastity. Acting under divine guidance of the Saints, with no military training, Joan convinced Crown Prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a French army to the besieged city of Orléans. In 1429, during the Hundred Year's War, at Orleans, Jeanne led the French army in a momentous victory that repulsed an English attempt to conquer France.

Joan was endowed with remarkable mental and physical courage. She possessed many attributes characteristic of the female visionaries of her time. Her claim to direct communication with the Saints and subsequent reliance upon her individual experience of God’s presence went far beyond the ministrations of the priesthood and the confines of the institutional church.

Jeanne became a military leader who transcended gender roles.  She gained recognition as a saviour of France. She also became the greatest national heroine of her compatriots. Her achievement was a decisive factor in the later awakening of French national consciousness. Her beloved country made her a national heroine. She became the spirit of France, the maiden, holy warrior, and Napoleonic symbol of opposition to the English, and for those who would defend and protect France from foreign invasion and domination.
Joan of Arc was considered one of history’s greatest martyrs, and the patron saint of France.

The role Jeanne played in the Hundred Years' War: The Seige of Orleans

Joan was able to tell of a French defeat related to the Siege of Orleans before anyone could have known about it; thereby demonstrating her divine powers.

In 1428, Jeanne appeared at the office of Robert de Baudricourt captain of the garrison of Vaucouleurs, requesting to be taken to the dauphin. De Baudricourt laughed her away at least twice before she convinced him of the seriousness of her mission. According to events, it was during one of her visits to the captain's office, that she told him of a French defeat related to the Siege of Orleans before anyone could have known about it. Relenting Robert de Baudricourt decided to escort Joan to Chinon to meet the dauphin. When Baudricort relented, Jeanne cropped her hair and dressed in men’s clothes to make the 11-day journey across enemy territory to Chinon, site of the crown prince’s palace. Charles VII had been advised of Joan's visit and decided to test her by dressing as one of his courtiers and having one of them dress as the dauphin; if Joan were truly sent by God then she would know the true dauphin. When Joan entered the assembly, she went directly to Charles and addressed him as the dauphin. Later, in private, it is said she convinced him of her legitimacy by telling him things that he had only said to God in his prayers. Joan promised Charles she would help him reconquer his kingdom and see him crowned king. She asked him to give her an army to lead to Orléans, then under siege from the English. Against the advice of his counsellors, courtiers and general Charles granted her request and she was given a small army. At the age of seventeen, in March of 1429, dressed in white armour and riding a white horse, Jeanne set off to fend off the Seige of Orleans.

Miraculous Victory, followed by Capture of Joan of Arc and Death

Jeanne led several French assaults. She enjoyed a series of spectacular military successes driving the Anglo-Burgundians from their bastion and forcing their retreat across the Loire River. After succeeding in lifting the Siege of Orleans and her miraculous victory, Joan’s reputation spread far and wide among French forces. She and her followers escorted Charles across enemy territory to Reims, taking towns that resisted by force and enabling him to be crowned King (King Charles VII in July 1429) with her by his side. Following Charles's coronation, Georges de La Trémoille, a favourite of his at court warns the king that Joan is becoming too powerful.

During this time the Anglo-Burgundians fortify their positions in Paris and turn back an attack led by Joan in September. In the spring of 1430, the king ordered Joan to confront a Burgundian assault on Compiège. In her effort to defend the town and its inhabitants, she was thrown from her horse and was left outside the town’s gates as they closed. The Burgundians took her captive and brought her amid much fanfare to the castle of Bouvreuil, occupied by the English commander at Rouen where she was sold to them. The English could not prosecute a woman who claimed she was serving God but could not allow even the suggestion she was telling the truth because that would mean that God was on the French side of the conflict.

In the trial that followed, Joan was ordered to answer to some 70 charges against her, including witchcraft heresy and dressing like a man. The Anglo-Burgundians were aiming to get rid of the young leader as well as discredit Charles, who owed his coronation to her. In attempting to distance himself from an accused heretic and witch, the French king made no attempt to negotiate Joan’s release. In May 1431, after a year in captivity and under threat of death, Joan relented and signed a confession denying that she had ever received divine guidance. Several days later, however, she defied orders by again donning men’s clothes, and authorities pronounced her death sentence. Finally, Jeanne was tried as a heretic for witchcraft and on the morning on May 30,1431, at the age of 19, she was taken to the old marketplace of Rouen and burned at the stake.

At the time of her death, few witnesses doubted Jeanne's salvation. The trial of Joan of Arc was reviewed as early as 1452 and found to be invalid. Jeanne was exonerated and her sentence was annulled by Pope Calixtus III in 1455-1456. She was proclaimed a martyr in 1456. By the time she was Canonised on May 16,1920, Joan of Arc was considered one of history’s greatest martyrs. Jeanne was canonised as a Virgin and not as a Christian martyr. Jeanne is one of the patron saints of France in the modern day.

SUMMARY

Saint, Heroic Woman and Martyr

Jeanne’s legacy is global. She is one of the most studied people of the Middle Ages. Her image, changing over time, has included being the saviour of France, an obedient daughter of the Roman Catholic Church, an early feminist, and a symbol of freedom and independence.

A LEGEND

Her death only made her more powerful. Jeanne's fame only increased after her death. Long before her canonisation she had attained mythic stature. In 1909 Joan of Arc was beatified in the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris by Pope Pius X. A statue in the cathedral of Jeanne d’Arc, who eventually became the patron saint of France, pays tribute to her legacy.

Since the time of her death, Joan of Arc has inspired thousands of historians, poets, painters and writers such as William Shakespeare, Voltaire and Mark Twain.

Like most people who make their livings from pursuits like astrology and psychic prediction not all of her prophecies have come true. Thus her psychic ability is surrounded by controversy. Significant Predictions for 2024 and Beyond (some of which may have already begun?)
  • Geographical changes that could affect millions of people, transform the known environment and alter the face of the earth in ways that are hard to imagine.
Africa. Breaking into three parts. A split of this nature would see a new
broader channel emerging as the Nile River and the Red Sea expand,
potentially drowning Cairo beneath the waters.
Asia (including nations such as India, China, Japan, Korea and the
Philippines). Cayce predicted very disastrous fates. He prophesied that the
Pacific Ocean would move forward and cover the territories from the
Philippines to Japan. Resulting in the majority of the coastal regions of the
world where millions of people reside in danger of being flooded.
North America. Cayce stated how the West Coast was shifting east and
creating new islands along the coast of California. Further, he foretold that
the Great Lakes would unite forming a water body that would drain to the
        Gulf of Mexico.
The eruption of the Italian Mount Etna and the Martinique Mount
Pelée. A trigger of a chain of events leading to massive shifts in
        Earth’s geography.
  • China’s Rise and Spiritual Transformation. Cayce prophesied a future where China would not only be an economic giant but also a radical great change in religion and spiritual awakening would occur, including a hub of Christianity, to the point whereby it becomes an influential component of Chinese society and culture. It suggests that in the future, China will not just be dominating in terms of economy but will also practice spiritual leadership. Cayce envisaged this change would occur over several generations.
  • Human Lifespan Extension. “Man should live much longer than has been ordinarily given — and will!”According to Cayce, technology, and medicine would assist in determining the length of human life, possibly beyond centuries. He foretold in the future, people could live much longer lives outside what can be imagined today.
  • A New Era of Human Evolution. Cayce foretells a future where humans would evolve and grow beyond their current mental and spiritual limitations - what he called a higher consciousness. According to Cayce, traditional ways of learning and living would become outdated and change drastically. We would become more sensitive and receptive to a higher form of knowledge, not just gained from reading, but from within, unlocking abilities and insights that seem impossible today.
  • A Major Global Conflict and Shift in Power Centred Around the Persian Gulf and Geopolitical Conflicts. Cage’s insights declare future hostilities in Libya, Egypt, Syria, and regions close to Australia. Also, these areas may potentially turn into critical areas of interest in geopolitical conflict.
  • Further, Cayce hints at more profound shifts in the balance of power on the international level. He ‘witnessed’ a change like leadership in the world and believed that countries like Russia could be of immense help.
  • The discovery of the design for a self-fueling perpetual-motion machine.
  • Cage foretells of the conditions surrounding the perfection of the motor which will develop power in its own action and be capable of providing power for the whole world.

Baba Vanga: Blind Prophetess and Healer

The Bulgarian mystic reported to have no less than an 85 per cent accuracy rate

Credit: Wikipedia Commons

Renowned for her reputed ability to foresee major global events

Born at the time of the Ottoman Empire on 31 January 1911, Baba Vanga died on 11 August 1996 at the age of 85 years. Vangelia Pandeva Guseinov, commonly known as Baba Vanga was a Bulgarian Mystic and healer who claimed to have foreseen the future. She is rumoured to have predicted some of the biggest events in world history. Baba died more than a quarter of a century ago and many of her predictions are said to have come true long after her death.

In the realm of mystical predictions, Bab Vanga reportedly made hundreds of predictions in her 50-year career.  The Bulgarian clairvoyant became likened to the famed Nostradamus and known as “Nostradamus of the Balkans”. The gifted seer has left behind a legacy of foreseeing significant global events.  Among others, she predicted the likes of the year of Joseph Stalin’s death, the 9/11 attack, the Chornobyl disaster, the election of the 44th U.S. president, who would be an African-American and the death of Princess Dianna. It is also believed she foresaw Global Warming and the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami when she warned: events of "Cold regions will become warm ... and volcanoes will awaken. "A huge wave will cover a big coast covered with people and towns, and everything will disappear beneath the water. Everything will melt, just like ice." Other sources, even go as far as saying she foretold the rising of the ‘Isis”.

2024
Already, six months in 2024 and the world has been 'put through the wringer'. Here is what the blind mystic had to say about the year 2024. Some of her prophecies have already come true while others are still materialising to this day.

A Leap in the Realm of Medicine
New treatments, the prophetess predicted medical breakthroughs for incurable diseases, including Cancer and Alzheimer's. One of the gifted foreseers striking prophecies that might soon materialise is the cancer vaccine development by Russia. According to President Vladimir Putin, Russia is on the verge of discovering a cancer vaccine.

Deeper Economic Turmoil
The prophecy of a looming economic crisis has manifested, especially impacting countries like Japan and the United Kingdom. Japan and the UK are wrestling with an economic crisis as escalating international political tensions and skyrocketing debt levels lead to monetary strain, placing these nations under considerable pressure. In the UK, the country struggles with the aftermath of a recession triggered by high inflation and cost-of-living issues. Meanwhile, Japan's position slide in global standings underscores the severity of its economic challenges. Also, in the United States, millions of Americans are currently experiencing chronic inflation, painting a gloomy future full of financial struggle and hardship. The ‘knock-on’ effects of these downturns echo across the global economy.

Intense Rise in Terrorism and Biological Weapons Testing
The mystic warned of intensified terrorist activities in Europe and intimated the possibility of a "big country" engaging in biological weapons testing or attacks.

Nostradamus: The Enigmatic Prophecies of a Renaissance Seer

Amazing Prophecy: Seer, French Astrologer, Physician, Author, Translator, Astrologer and Apothecary (Pharmacist)

The Man Who Saw Through Time!

Michael de Nostradame, usually Latinised as Nostradamus was born on the 14th of December 1503 in Saint-Remy-de Provence (France) and died at age 62 on 2nd July 1566. He is considered one of the most accurate prophets in history by many. It is said he even predicted his death. When his assistant wished him goodnight on July 1, 1566, Nostradamus reputedly pronounced, "You will not find me alive at sunrise." He was found dead on July 2, 1566.

The Early Years: Mysterious Awakening, Unexplained Prophecy

In his early years, Nostradamus was a Physician and developed some very progressive methods for dealing with the plague. Also, during this time,  while travelling throughout Italy, Nostradamus experienced a Mysterious Awakening, an unexplained prophecy, when he came upon a group of Franciscan monks, he identified one as the future Pope. The monk, called Felice Peretti, was ordained Pope Sixtus V in 1585, fulfilling his prediction.

The Later Years: Notoriety, King Henry's Court and The Magnum Opus – Les Prophecies (The Prophecies)

Later in life, Nostradamus became famous and in demand by many of Europe’s elite. Catherine de Medici, the wife of King Henri II of France, was one of Nostradamus’s greatest admirers.  After familiarising herself with his almanacs of 1555, where he inferred at unnamed threats to her family, she summoned him to Paris to explain and draw up horoscopes for her family.  A few years later, she made him Counsellor and Physician-in-Ordinary to King Henri’s Court. In 1556, while serving in this position Nostradamus also explained another prophecy from "Centuries I", which was assumed to refer to King Henri. The prophecy told of a “young lion” who would overcome an older one on the field of battle. The young lion would pierce the eye of the older one and he would die a cruel death.  Nostradamus warned the King he should avoid ceremonial jousting.  ‘Low and behold’, three years later, when King Henri was 41 years old, he died in a jousting match when a lance from this opponent pierced the king’s visor and entered his head behind the eye deep into his brain.

Nostradamus’s book, the magnum opus – Les Prophecies (the Prophecies), published in 1855, made him notorious.  The book contained his prophecies for the next ten centuries.  From the time of its publication and Nostradamus’s death, the book has rarely been out of print, earning him fame. It has attracted a loyal following, including much of the popular press, that credits him with accurately predicting many pivotal major world events in history.
