Poem: The Runes, The Speech of the High One

An Ancient Oracle of Divination and Alphabet

The following is one version of the famous passage taken from The Poetic Edda (c. AD 1200) which is said to be the speech of the High One and how the Runes came into being.

'The Speech of The High One'

The Poetic Edda (c. AD 1200) -  Photo by deviantart.com

Poem from: The Book of Runes by Ralph Blum

I know I hung on that windswept tree,
Swung there for nine long nights,
Wounded by my own blade,
Bloodied for Odin,
Myself an offering to myself:
Bound to the tree
That no man knows
Whither the roots of it run.

None gave me bread,
None gave me drink.
Down to the deepest depths I peered
Until I spied the Runes.
With a roaring cry I seized them up,
Then dizzy and fainting, I fell.

Well-being I won
And wisdom too.
I grew and took joy in my growth:
From a word to a word
I was led to a word,
From a deed to another deed.

Dive Deep Into Astrology's Star Signs: Revelations Await

Exploring the Zodiac Signs

Photo by aperimentis.wordpress.com-the Astronomical Diary, VAT 4956...

For thousands of years dating back as far back as the Babylonian times around 3,000 BC, we have looked to the stars as a source of divine communication to connect with our past, present and future and to draw knowledge from.

On our first visit to astrology, we take to the night sky to look at the relationship between Astrology and divination through the Twelve Major Constellations, the Zodiac Star Signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

Each Zodiac Sign has its unique characteristics and traits, that shape and influence its personality, strengths, weaknesses and compatibility. Knowing a star sign can give insights into personality, relationships, health, etc. Thus, being familiar with a horoscope sign can help to: navigate life; gain a deeper understanding of the self; and relate to and connect with others better.

Beginning with Aries, we will feature a Snapshot of fundamental information relating to each of the Zodiac Signs each month. We will show what they are connected to, revealing how this can shape a personality i.e., character, behaviour, talents, qualities, attitude etc., as well as influence a person’s life, past, present and future.
